Central America
Since 2014 the U.S. has seen an exponential increase of Central Americans arriving at its borders seeking refuge. Thousands are fleeing violence and the inability of their governments to protect them. USCRI is working hard to advocate for U.S. policies that are humane and protect Central Americans. Along with our advocacy, USCRI Centro-América opened its doors in San Salvador, El Salvador in 2014 to provide on-the-ground assistance to repatriated children.

Our story began in 1911 when we began providing support services to newcomers. For decades our World Refugee Survey provided a country-by-country analysis on displaced persons. We continue our mission offering insights and solutions for serving the uprooted.

In an international partnership with the Universidad Tecnolólogica de El Salvador (UTEC), the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) provides information as to the migration pattern of Salvadorans. The report explores and analyzes the root causes of migration among Salvadoran adults and children.

This report is a joint effort with the support of four NGOs in the region and provides a review of national frameworks centering attention on due process, access to information, appeals mechanisms and abbreviated RSD Procedures.
